Jeffrey Axelrod

CEO and President
Jeffrey Axelrod has spent his career building bridges between the financial services and technology domains -- conceiving, designing and guiding technology and the teams that build it, in the areas of general ledger accounting, portfolio management and analytics, partnership accounting, corporate actions and pricing, among other areas.

Jeffrey is the founding Chief Technology Officer of Cogency and now serves as CEO. Prior to Cogency, Jeffrey was vice president of development and chief architect at TenFold Corporation, a provider of applications and application technology used by many of the world's top companies in financial services and other verticals. Prior to that, he served as Chief Technology Officer and vice president of development at Financial Technologies International (now GoldenSource), a provider of enterprise solutions for financial services companies. Before that, Jeffrey worked as a retail accountant and controller for ten years.

Jeffrey holds a BA in Anthropology from Beloit College in Wisconsin and advanced certification in Computer Technology from Columbia University in New York City. He held a teaching post at Columbia University's Computer Technology and Applications division for six years.

 
Tony Lai

Vice President, Client Services
Tony Lai has over 10 years of hands-on experience developing and designing business and financial software. He joined Cogency in November 2005 as an Implementation Specialist and now serves as VP of client services and general manager of Cogency’s New York office. Prior to joining Cogency, Tony managed client relationships, overseas development teams and enterprise software projects as Director of the Project Management Office at Appian Bridge Corporation, a proprietary software and consulting firm.

Tony was responsible for managing the software implementations, budgeting, support and scheduling at firms, including HSBC, Citibank, US Bank, ABN AMRO Bank, Fuji Bank and Basell International, among others. Tony began his career on the options floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange and has wide ranging experience in the financial services industry.

Tony holds a B.A. from Colgate University and Certifications in Project Management and Networking.

 
Robert Silberschein

Vice President, Implementation Services
Robert Silberschein has over 20 years of hands-on experience developing business and financial software, with the last 13 years specializing in middle- and back-office systems for hedge funds. He joined Cogency in December 2005 as an Implementation Specialist and now has the most ‘successful-client-implementation’ notches on his belt.

His combined knowledge of hedge fund administration, partnership accounting and software development helps lead the success of each Cogency Insight implementation. Prior to joining Cogency, Robert consulted and developed software for several hedge funds, hedge fund administrators and accounting firms, including The Bank of New York and Ernst & Young LLP. He started his career at Coopers & Lybrand LLP (now Price Water House Coopers) as a Senior Developer for their Asset Management group, and then soon joined Ernst & Young LLP as a Senior Developer, responsible for maintaining and enhancing their proprietary partnership tax allocation software. He spent the next 10 years there contributing to the development & support of several partnership tax accounting products.

Robert holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge.

 
Yang Wang

CAIA, Vice President, Development
Yang Wang has had a major role in designing and writing every major area of Cogency’s products. He joined Cogency as a senior software developer and has worked as Director of Development, Development Manager, and now VP of Development, as which he is responsible for all aspects of product architecture and development.

Before joining Cogency, he held senior software engineering positions and was building financial services software at Intelliswift Software, Integral Development Corporation and International Consultant Resources Group.

Yang holds a ME degree from the Institute of China Aerospace and a BE degree from Shandong Polytechnic University in the PRC. He received his Alternative Investment Analyst charter (CAIA) in 2009.
